HomeThe New Yorker Cartoons
American author and humorist Mark Twain wrote, “Humor is mankind’s greatest blessing.”
That apt quote captures the heart of the single-panel cartoons sprinkled throughout each issue of The New Yorker, an American magazine of reportage, commentary, satire, cartoons, and poetry. Founded as a sophisticated humor magazine it ultimately became a forum for serious fiction literature and journalism.
Cartoons have been featured in the magazine since it began publication in 1925. The iconic nature of cartooning—classic gags, reality-based, whimsical, satirical, philosophical, and more—is represented well in The New Yorker.
A New Yorker cartoon editor once said, “The cartoons evoke a smile of the mind. Not a belly laugh.”
At DeCamilla Capital we included them on our website pages for that very reason.
